Bears Sign DL Maurice Evans and Release P Richmond McGee

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears have signed defensive lineman Maurice Evans to a two-year contract and released punter Richmond McGee.

Signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State last year, Evans spent the preseason with New York before getting released. He has since spent time on Tampa Bay's active roster and practice squad along with a two-week stint on Carolina's practice squad, but he has not appeared in a regular-season game.

In college, Evans had 17 sacks and 100 tackles in 36 games.

McGee spent a month with the Bears in the preseason last year before being waived. He was brought back as insurance late in the season with Brad Maynard nursing a groin injury but did not play.
