Police are looking for a man who attempted to lure a young boy into his car Thursday evening in the Englewood neighborhood while donning a white mask with whiskers and clown makeup.

It happened about 6 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Stewart Avenue, an alert from Wentworth Area detectives said.

A black man, who was wearing a white mask with whiskers, a red clown nose and red clown paint around his mouth, attempted to lure a 12-year-old boy to his van, the alert said. The man got out of the van and motioned to the boy with his hand to come to him but the boy ran away instead.

The vehicle is described as a white Ford van. It was not clear what the man was wearing during the incident, the alert said.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
