Police Revise Description Of Two-State Shooter's Truck
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Authorities on Friday said the suspect wanted in connection with a two-state shooting spree last week was driving a light blue pickup truck -- not a white one, as previously thought.
Last Tuesday, the gunman shot two construction workers near Beecher, Ill., killing one, and then shot and wounded a farmer in Lowell, Ind. Police released a sketch of the suspect and said he drove a white pickup truck.
Police arrested a police officer from suburban Lynwood, but then dropped charges after evidence showed officer Brian Dorian was using his computer at the time of the shootings. Dorian matched the gunman's general description and also drove a white truck.
But Friday, authorities said witnesses now say the truck was light blue, with a lighter passenger-side door. Witnesses also said the truck was a Chevy Cheyenne dating to the 1990s. Lake County, Ind. Sheriff Roy Dominguez asked for the public's help in tracking down the vehicle.
The development came as investigators looked at video taken from an Indiana school security camera in hopes of seeing footage of the suspect. Alice Neil, superintendent of the Tri-Creek School Corporation, said police took video taken from a camera at Lowell Middle School. Police later said the video was not useful in the investigation.
