FBI Child Prostitution Sting Rescues 3 Kids

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- The Chicago FBI says three juveniles - all under the age of 16 - are now in state custody after raids over the weekend removed them from a life of child prostitution.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the FBI says it moved in on more than 20 locations in the Chicago area and found three juveniles who had been forced into prostitution.

FBI Spokesman Ross Rice says six adults were also arrested on charges of solicitation and 39 adults were arrested on other charges related to the raids.

"Some of the most vulnerable in society are being exploited for personal gain by others," Rice said. "Many times they are runaways. Occasionally, they're either sold into prostitution or converted into prostitution by their parents or guardians."

Rice says the raids were done across the country, and he says a total of 69 children were rescued from prostitution nationwide.

Rice says the three minors here in the Chicago area were placed in the custody of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
