Bears defensive lineman, Israel Idonije was born in Lagos, Nigeria and was grew up in Manitoba, Canada. Most Canadian kids grow up with dreams of playing hockey. Idonije may have had some of those dreams, but he also dreamed of playing in the NFL.
“It’s a moment that you cherish and you’ll always remember,” Idonije said when describing his feelings after his first professional game in Canada.
“College coaches watching. High school coaches watching, it’s just one of those moments. [I got] a lot of calls, a lot of congratulations and just a lot of people happy to be a part of the story and the journey to this point. It was just a really exciting moment.”
The excitement of playing in Canada was most likely increased with a win and Idonije’s performance.
