Shots Fired At Officer At Crime Scene

CHICAGO (STMW) - A person was shot and seriously wounded in the Far South Side's Roseland neighborhood. About the same time and location, shots were fired at a Chicago Police officer, who was not hit.

About noon, a person was shot and left in "very serious" condition at the intersection of 111th Street and Vernon Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor.

Mirabelli said though it was not known immediately if the two incidents were connected, shots were fired at a Chicago Police officer near the same intersection.

The officer was not struck, Mirabelli said.
