CHICAGO (CBS) - A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Sunday evening, just half a block from his Marquette neighborhood home.

The boy was shot in the head in the 6500 block of South Rockwell Street around 5:50 p.m. Sunday, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said.

The victim has been identified as Montreal Montgomery, 17, of the 6500 block of South Talman Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He was dead at the scene.

Montgomery was a junior at Gage High School, according to a Chicago Public Schools spokesperson.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
