Briggs: 'People Will Change Their Opinion On Us'

You know the drill. Lovie Smith loves to act like his team has never deserved to be criticized for the way it has played the last three years.

Tons of opportunities and zero playoff appearances.

"The criticism we have had this year, and even beforehand, it's not unjust," linebacker Lance Briggs said on The Boers and Bernstein Show Monday. "We've had three down years and the message is: Just don't expect people to think we are going to win these games.. They have a lot of reasons not to, but as long as we know who we are and believe in who we are, believe in what we are doing, then we'll win games and people will start to change their opinion on us."

"A step in the right direction," Briggs said about the win. "We have a lot of steps right now. We have a long ways to go, but I look at it as, you know, obviously it was a statement game and for those who thought our legitimacy is based off a legitimate opponent, we have something to go off of now."
