200 lbs. of Marijuana Found In Vehicle

LAKE IN THE HILLS, Ill. (AP) – Police in the McHenry county town of Lake in The Hills say an Elmhurst man is facing drug charges after they confiscated nearly 200 pounds of marijuana from his vehicle.

Police told the Northwest Herald on Thursday that 33-year-old Anthony Occhipinti is charged with unlawful delivery of marijuana and possession of marijuana.

Officers say they were investigating a suspicious vehicle on Nov. 23, but the driver fled on foot before they could interview him.

A K-9 unit from Crystal Lake later searched the vehicle and found 195 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $1.75 million.

Occhipinti surrendered Wednesday at the McHenry County Sheriff’s office. He was released Thursday on $75,000 bond.

Authorities did not say whether Occhipinti had an attorney.

    Hey Joe,

You’re right. I calculate $1.75 million for 195 lbs. to be equivalent to just under $9,000 ($8,974.36). This must be a misprint.
