End Of Oprah Show Leaves Harpo Studios Unbooked

CHICAGO (WBBM) – Oprah Winfrey wraps up taping of her show in Chicago in May. What happens to all of the Harpo Productions studio space and hundreds of workers remains up in the air.

LISTEN: Newsradio 780’s Mike Krauser Reports

Oprah’s daily talk show has been recorded in Chicago for 25 years.

There had been hints that a new production might take the place of the show at Harpo Studios, 1059 W. Washington Blvd. But, for now, Crain’s Chicago Business is reporting, there is nothing in the works.

About 400 people work here for Harpo. The company says it expects to keep them busy with production work related to the new Oprah Winfrey Network.

That launches next month, with a special called “Ask Oprah’s All Stars.”

But the Oprah Winfrey Network and its spinoffs will tape in New York and Los Angeles.

“All that Love” didn’t seem to stretch far enough to include Chicago anymore!! OH WELL, another tarnished star in the heavens of Hollywood.

To Ms Oprah Winfrey and Staff:

I, Willie Johnson and wife, respectfully ask that you read this comment and please take some time to consider what it details.

I have been noticing that you, Ms Winfrey, have a big heart that goes out to people in need as well as those who may not be in need.

My major concerns as well as my wife, with others too I am sure, are that we with post-educational experiences have graduated from colleges with a debt when leaving college. After leaving college should have been an experience unlike any other, well it should have opened doors of financial wealth or something like that. With leaving college with an already mounting debt made it or is making it very difficult in maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly bills.

We are not asking that the Ms Oprah Show pay off our student loans in full, but that we are allowed to come on your show to express to current and future student who are seeking student loans to be mindful of what loans to get and how much should be consider, as well as what course of studies to go into that will pay off the loans.

Perhaps in exchange for appearing on the show, my wife and I, along with other I am sure, will respectfully be considered for some form of hardship at your disposal.

    Sincerely; a provider in need.
