Fire Breaks Out At Division Street Pizzeria

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fire broke out Wednesday morning at a pizzeria on the ground floor of a prewar high rise in the Division Street nightlife district.

The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries reported. But a frozen fire hydrant didn't make fighting it any easier.

The still-and-box alarm fire was called at about 8:10 a.m. at Chi-Town Pizza, at 11 W. Division St., according to Fire Media Affairs.

The fire turned out to be small, but the response still brought 114 firefighters and 37 fire companies to the scene.

The frozen hydrant didn't turn out to be a major issue; crews just went to the next one.

But fire crews tell CBS 2 the frozen hydrants could become an issue.

The fire was quickly extinguished, by 8:20 a.m.

The pizzeria is on the first floor of the 12-story Gold Coast Suites building, which also houses Bootleggers Tavern on the ground floor, and apartments on the floors above.
