CHICAGO (WBBM) – It worked so well for Woodfield, Macy’s is expanding the number of stores this Christmas season that are offering around the clock shopping.
LISTEN: Newsradio 780’s Mary Frances Bragiel Reports
It means that, for a few days, a select number of Macy’s bricks and mortar stores will imitate Internet shopping. Want to shop at 3 a.m.? No problem.
The decision to expand the number of stores open round-the-clock for a limited time is based on customer feedback, according to Macy’s district Vice President Tom Reis.
The Oakbrook and Orland Square stores open at 7 a.m. Tuesday and, just like the Woodlfield store in Schaumburg, will remain open around the clock until Friday, Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. That’s a stretch of 83 hours.
Reis says, in addition to what customers had to say, employees were also surveyed and liked the idea.
15 Macy’s stores in Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and Virginia. are participating in the marathon shopping event.
