CHICAGO (CBS) – An elderly man is hospitalized in police custody, after barricading himself inside a home in the Southwest Side’s Clearing neighborhood for about five hours.

The standoff began just after 1 a.m. Tuesday in the 5600 block of West 63rd Street, just southwest of Midway International Airport.

Police say the man was facing eviction and locked himself inside. Initial reports indicate the man was threatening to shoot people who live inside the building.
