Just Where Is The Bears-Packers Fan Dividing Line?

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS/WBBM) -- The dividing line between Bears fans and Packers fans is not as clear cut as the Illinois-Wisconsin border.

With that in mind, a southeast Wisconsin newspaper decided to have a little fun with the border dispute.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bernie Tafoya reports, Kenosha News publisher Ken Dowdell says his paper wanted to find out if, indeed, Highway 50 in Kenosha County was the real dividing line – the 50-yard line, if you well – between Bears country and Packer land.

It seems a little ballot-box stuffing has gone on, because there are now more than twice as many Bears helmets than Packers helmets on the Kenosha News Fanometer map.

The Bears claimed 2,157 fans, compared to 976 for the Packers. The map also tallied 25 Pittsburgh Steelers fans and 15 New York Jets fans.

In fairness, most of the Bears fans are south of Highway 50.

But Dowdell admits there is a sizable Bears fan presence in the Kenosha area.

"Bears fans in our sports department tell us that we pay too much attention to the Packers," Dowdell said. "Packers fans say there's too much attention to the Bears."

No matter what, Dowdell says it's a fun rivalry.
