Carlton Brown, 42, of the 9600 block of South Utica Avenue in Evergreen Park, was pronounced dead at 12:16 a.m. Wednesday at Roseland Community Hospital following the crash, according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The one-vehicle crash happened about 11:38 p.m. Tuesday on the freeway (I-94) near 115th Street, Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Joe Stangl said.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on a ramp at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, drove onto an embankment and struck a tree, Stangl said. He is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel.
