CHICAGO (CBS) – A brief snowstorm swooped into the area early Friday, putting Chicago within a fraction of an inch of the snowiest February ever.
The National Weather Service measured 0.4 inch of snow at O’Hare–and with more snow expected tonight, the more than 100-year-old record could fall this weekend.
A total of about 2 to 3 inches fell Friday morning south of Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
CBS 2′s Susanna Song reports thunder-snow was seen in south suburban Lynwood early Friday. Several flashes of lightning were spotted between 5:30 and 6 a.m.
The snow Friday morning tapered off to flurries by sunrise. But CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros reminds us that Chicago is still trapped in an active weather pattern through the weekend, and a new snowstorm is coming in Friday night.
That snowstorm could dump another 2 inches or so.
The greatest amount of snow recorded in the month of February in Chicago was the 27.8 inches in 1896, according to the National Weather Service. This February is now about 0.4 inches behind that.
For now, city crews are out in force trying to keep the roads clear. A total of 174 snow-fighting trucks are patrolling the main roads and Lake Shore Drive.
But the city says it’s already over budget for snow removal costs. Some union workers blame unfair distribution of overtime for city crews, who say they cost the city thousands of dollars in extra wages.
The second round of snow will end on Saturday. On Sunday, rain is expected as the high creeps past the freezing mark. Snow is also expected on Monday.

The argument isn’t whether there’s warming (indications are there isn’t any but…) it’s the influence of humankind on it. First, “scientists” (this includesPhD’s and engineers, many of whom have no experience in the field) say the problem is CO2. But they don’t tell you that CO2 is an effect, not a cause. Then, they go on to NOT tell you that human contribution to CO2 on the planet is next to zero. Did you miss that day?

And have you looked at the percentages of CO2 that are created by man vs. other sources? Miniscule to the point that, even if CO2 WERE the cause, it wouldn’t be coming from man. Please. I happen to be scientist. IF climate change were indicated it is very odd that raw data, methods and models are not publicly available. Here’s a few easy questions.
1). What is the normal climate? Is it a single system or multiple climate systems?
Without a normal base line deviation cannot be calculated let alone differentiation normal variation let alone the cause of such variation.
2). How does this climate model account for events like volcanic eruptions, solar eruptions, earth quakes etc? Recall a single event in Iceland shut down air travel in Europe.
3). Were tree ring and icecore samples of elevated carbon a precedent, concurrent or an antecedent to prior warming cycles? Assuming cause and effect vs an ambiguous correlation why wasn’t a proportionate delta in carbon seen in cooling cycles.
4). Data integrity: Where are the gauge studies and instrument calibration records? In order to validate that data modern methods would need to have been in place from the moment those statistical methods were invented. Unlikely, so the data is flawed and yet there is no discussion of the impact on the conclusions. Recent data is qualified by declaring some data sets are modified because of such problems. The potential impact of these modifications is not discussed.
I can go on but ya get the idea.

When the half-mile-high glacier came rolling down past Chicago during the last Ice Age there were NO SUV’s or power plants or anything spewing CO2. There were record snows this winter in North America, Europe, Russia and last summer in Australia and South America. There has been NO observed warming in 13 years.
