Police Find Explosives After Teen Posts Videos Online

HUNTLEY, IL (STMW) -- A 14-year-old boy posted videos of himself creating explosive devices on the Internet, leading police right to his northwest suburban home Thursday afternoon.

Huntley police and the Kane County Bomb Squad went to a home at the 10000 block of Golden Gate Dr. in Huntley about 1 p.m. Thursday, a release from police said. Inside the home, officers found several substances and materials that were consistent with creating dangerous explosive devices.

The teen was posting videos of himself creating devices similar to M-80s and other dangerous fireworks, the release said.

All the substances and materials were confiscated and removed from the home, and police said there was no immediate danger to the community.

As of Thursday afternoon, no charges had been filed.
