NBAPA VP Evans Is Expecting A Lockout

After witnessing the mess that came with the NFL's attempt at a new labor deal, lockout has become the "L" word sports fans don't want to hear. The difficulty for players to meet before the season is over has the NBA Players Association Vice President Maurice Evans is expecting to see a lockout in the NBA too.

According to CBSSports.com, Evans said the real negotiations haven't even begun yet. It is going to be difficult to get players together until after the NBA Finals and the deadline for a new deal expires July 1.

"We're just waiting until the season is pretty much over because we won't have a chance to all meet again until the NBA Finals are over with (in mid-June)," Evans told HoopsHype.com. "I'm sure we won't get a deal done by July 1. Therefore, it technically will be a lockout. Hopefully, we're going to solve those issues before the season starts again."

"We've had a number of meetings starting over a year ago, almost two years out, and we still haven't been able to really come to any significant negotiations. Therefore, I know it's going to go into the summer," Evans continued.
