Rodman Gets Emotional Over Pistons Retiring Jersey

Dennis Rodman says he’s surprised the Detroit Pistons decided to retire his jersey.

The honor made Rodman so emotional that just talking about it led to tears streaming down both cheeks.

A spot was cleared in The Palace’s rafters for his No. 10 alongside former Bad Boys teammates Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer and Vinnie Johnson. The Pistons have also retired Dave Bing and Bob Lanier’s jerseys, and honored Bill Davidson, Chuck Daly and Jack McCloskey with banners for contributions to the franchise with three NBA titles.

Rodman – then known as “The Worm” – helped Detroit win two in 1989 and ’90, and won three more championship with the Chicago Bulls. He is among 12 finalists for induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

I recal not so many people hated Chicago’s decision to add Rodman to the lineup. His play and personality created a huge following in Chicago. His contribution in Chicago was pivotal. He was a key factor in the championships and always knew his role while dominating the boards (rebounds). He anticipated the shots with precision. I hope he is inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame. He earned it.

He was lazy. He had so much raw talent but because of it thought he did not need to practice. Michael Jordan still practiced because he new it made his game better, did “the Worm” really think he was better than Jordan? Or was he just lazy?

Hopefully Chicago will never retire Rodman’s jersey. winning championships is not what we measure a person by. Does character or sportsmanship have any bearing on honoring a sports personality? Evidently not, It’s about $$$$$$$$$$$ and sports hero worship

The Worm. Survive off what, live and thrive in what, looks like what? You have to dig worms up or bait them up. We baited Dennis to Chicago. Another way to see a worm. One, look at the eagerness in Electras eyes for one round knowing she’ll never go for two. Or wait untill it rain… And thanks in no small part to Dennis…it RAINED contenuous championships.
