Man Killed In Midway Area Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) - A 35-year-old man was killed after the vehicle he was driving rear-ended another car then crashed into a median flower container on the Southwest Side outside Midway Airport early Sunday.

About 2:35 a.m. the man was driving on the 6000 block of South Cicero Avenue when he rear-ended another vehicle, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said. When he attempted to flee the scene in his car he wound up crashing into a flower box barrier, O'Brien said.

The driver, identified as Patrick Haugh according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:56 a.m. Police did not have any information as to whether the driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended was injured.
