DCFS, Police Investigating Death Of 2-Week-Old Boy

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death of a 2-week-old South Side boy that police and DCFS are investigating has proven inconclusive, pending further studies.

Miguel Jenkins of 742 E. 87th Place was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

DCFS is investigating the child's death, an agency spokesman said. Other children in the family have been placed in the care of relatives. DCFS has had no prior contact with the family.

Calumet Area detectives are also conducting a death investigation, but no details were available as of early Wednesday afternoon.

An autopsy Wednesday was inconclusive, pending further studies, according to the medical examiner's office.
