Tornado Watch For McHenry, Kane, Kendall Counties

CHICAGO, Ill. (STMW)– A tornado watch has been issued for McHenry, Kane, Kendall and Grundy counties and points west Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.

About 6 p.m. the watch was issued and it will be in place until 1 a.m., according to NWS meteorologist David Beachler.

There is still a possibility that thunderstorms, large hail and damaging winds may move into the Chicago area by about 10 p.m., he said.

Beachler said they are monitoring conditions closely and said if a tornado should actually occur and sirens activate, the safest place to be is in a basement and away from glass or windows, as they could break and flying glass could injure someone.

“Try to get in the lowest point in the building you are in,’’ Beachler said.

Another tip is to try be inside an interior room, such as a closet or a bathroom or hallway, he said.

Its just a watch, I’m not worried. Only if it turns into a Warning you have to worry. I lived in Oklahoma (tornado alley) and know what the physical warning signs are.

      Well aren’t you special?

We got debris, we got cows, we got drunkards, but most importantly we got Dorthy.

When you end your sentence with a question mark, you are asking a question. An exclamation point would have been the proper response. I am sorry, but you did not pass the test. I already know I am special.
