CHICAGO (STMW) – A U.S. Mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint Saturday afternoon on the South Side.

The incident occurred at 12:24 p.m. at 7817 S. Indiana Ave., according to police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.

The mail carrier was confronted by two suspects, at least one of whom was armed, and the suspects took the mailbox key off the mail carrier’s key chain, according to Baety.

No one was hurt, and they did not take the key to the vehicle the worker was driving, according to the officer.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.

I live in the same area and hope and prayer its not our route carrier that was robbed. This guy works hard everyday to deliver, as well pick up, the mail. He’s dedicated to performing his job with a smile. It is a joy to reward for his efforts at Christmas time. We are just glad he didn’t get hunt by these “Dumber than Dumb” thugs. Hopefully the F.B.I will capture them soon.

soping saturday dlievery is a answer besides it wont be a saturday it willl be a wed, or thurs the days most banks are closed cuting out a day of service wont help but make mail delierly worst and cause more problems and more money lost for you and me and the world,
