Mail Carrier Robbed At Gunpoint On South Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A U.S. Mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint Saturday afternoon on the South Side.

The incident occurred at 12:24 p.m. at 7817 S. Indiana Ave., according to police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.

The mail carrier was confronted by two suspects, at least one of whom was armed, and the suspects took the mailbox key off the mail carrier's key chain, according to Baety.

No one was hurt, and they did not take the key to the vehicle the worker was driving, according to the officer.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
