WOOD DALE, Ill. (CBS) – A 44-year-old man was struck and killed by a Metra train in west suburban Wood Dale on Saturday.

The man was hit by an inbound Milwaukee District-West Line train shortly after 12:30 p.m. near Ash Avenue in Wood Dale, according to a Metra spokesperson.

The DuPage County Coroner’s office confirmed that officials were on the scene of the fatality, but would not release any further details about the death. The victim’s name was being withheld, pending notification of his family.

Metra said the inbound train was stopped for 2 hours and 20 minutes after the accident. A train bound for Elgin also was delayed about an hour while emergency crews were at the scene of the accident.

As of Saturday afternoon, trains were running on a normal schedule.
