Earth Day 2012

CHICAGO (CBS) — Being green on this Earth Day comes with certain perks.

Perks, as in free coffee at Starbucks and Caribou coffee shops.

All you have to do is bring in your own reusable mug for a free cup of Joe. The offer is good at all Starbucks and Caribou locations in Chicagoland.

And if home improvement is your thing, Lowe’s is offering Earth Day related clinics–you can learn how to build a bird house–from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. They are also giving away free trees.

Home Depot is also joining in on the fun, offering workshops on Saturday morning for living green and cleaning green.

Our friends at Chicagist, also compiled some nice Earth Day events, from benefits, to beach cleanups and even a 5K.

And CBS sister radio station WXRT has compiled a photo gallery of the world’s most endangered animals, courtesy of the World Wildlife Fund.
