Konroyd: Crawford Stood Tall When It Mattered

CHICAGO (WSCR) The Chicago Blackhawks were supposed to be Nikolai Khabibulin's team. Then it was supposed to be Cristobal Huet's team, then Antti Niemi's, then Marty Turco's, and that was only over the course of three seasons.

But now this is rookie Corey Crawford's team, and he's starting to play like it was only a matter of time until that would happened.

"He's one of those guys that you like to see good things happen to," former Blackhawk and current analyst Steve Konroyd said on the Mully and Hanley Show.

Crawford collected his first playoff shutout on Thursday night, he wasn't forced to make a ton of saves, but he made them when it counted.

"It wasn't a really busy night for him," Konroyd said. "[The Canucks] picked up a few garbage shots in the third period. There were times in that game, and I know we got out to a 3-0 lead...but in the NHL, they get a goal and make it 3-1, they're at home and they get the fans back into it, it's a different ball game. [Crawford] made some unbelievable stops when it was 3-0."
