Fritchey Vows To Pay Late Property Taxes

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cook County Commissioner John Fritchey is saying the fact that he's behind on his property taxes shouldn't reflect on his ability to do his job.

Fritchey and his estranged wife owe more than $24,000 in unpaid property taxes and penalties on their Lincoln Park home, Newsradio 780's Steve Miller reports.

Fritchey said he and his wife are going through a divorce, and he hasn't lived in the home since October 2009.

He said his wife, based on advice from her divorce attorney, was the one who decided not to pay the property taxes.

Fritchey said the house is in the process of being sold in less than 60 days and that he'll pay the property taxes before the sale is completed.
