Teen Shot Dead In Chatham

CHICAGO (CBS) — Gunfire has claimed the life of a teenager in the South Side’s Chatham neighborhood.

Someone shot the 18-year-old male victim around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of East 82nd Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. He was discovered unresponsive near an alley, police said.

The man was shot multiple times and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m., according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The identity of the victim, who lived in the city, was not being released Wednesday morning, pending family notification.

A Gresham District police captain said the shooting took place outside and no one was in custody.
