Man Robbed Of iPhone On Red Line Train

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was robbed of his iPhone early Monday on a CTA Red Line train near the Clark/Division subway stop.

Around 2:15 a.m., the 21-year-old man was approached by a boy who was asked a question about his the earbuds in his ears. He had an iPhone in either his hand or his pocket when the boy snatched it from him, police said.

The victim tried to chase the boy, but the thief's friends were blocking his path so he couldn't get to the boy, police said.

The offenders all ran, and the victim gave police a description of five teenage boys. Police found four of them.

Two 15-year-old boys were charged with felony robbery, and one of them had an additional charge because of a warrant. They were taken to the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with felony robbery, while an 18-year-old boy, identified as Kenneth Parron of the 1600 block of South Oakley Avenue, was charged with assault. Parron was released on a recognizance bond, and was set to appear in Misdemeanor Court in June, police said.

The fifth suspect was not caught. He is described as a tall male in his teens, possibly with dreadlocks, police said.
