The Morning After Blog: Tuesday Edition

By Laurence Holmes--

CHICAGO (WSCR) After 36 games, the White Sox finally have won three in-a-row. The Sox started hitting early and got a three-nothing lead. If you think the issues with the offense don't affect pitchers then take a look at this quote from last night's winner Edwin Jackson.

"It was definitely a great feeling," Jackson said. "When you look up and you have early run support, you don't have to be as perfect and you can attack the hitters. When the offense is swinging like that, you just want to get them back in as quick as possible so they can continue to swing."

Jackson was great last night, but it seems pretty obvious from his statement that it's easier for a starter to relax when he gets early run support. The Sox have had 19 runs and 40 hits in their last three games. On top of that, Floyd, Beurhle and Jackson have been spectacular. The three Sox starters have combined for 23 innings pitched, two earned runs and 17 strikeouts.

-Miami showed me something last night: late-game toughness. LeBron James actually hit big shots down the stretch, but his defense was even more impressive. When he wants to be, he is a dominant on-the-ball defender and has the ridiculous ability jump passing lanes like nobody else in the NBA. Be afraid. Be very afraid...The Heat are dangerous!

-Went and saw Thor after the show. I liked it, but didn't love it. I give it three stars. Since I'm a comic book geek, I may look at the movie a bit differently. For an origin movie, I thought it was very solid. There were a lot of good moments, but for me, I enjoyed the cameo of Hawkeye most of all. When I got back I was happy to catch the third overtime between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Memphis Grizzlies. Kevin Durant was amazing and it was a great cap-off to the night.

I'll be doing some Bulls preview and NFL talk tonight starting at 6:00 p.m.
