CHICAGO (CBS) – One man is dead, and another is fighting for his life Thursday morning, after separate shootings in the South Shore and Woodlawn neighborhoods.
Police found a man in the street just after 11 p.m. in the 7200 block of Cornell Avenue. He had been shot in the abdomen.
That man, Myron Smith, 40, of the 8600 block of South Dante Avenue, was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m. Thursday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
About the same time as police found Smith, officers also found a second man with a gunshot wound to the body several blocks away at 1400 E. 69th St., police said.
He was also taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and remains in critical condition early Thursday.
Police could not immediately say if the shootings were related.
Calumet Area police detectives are investigating both shootings. No one was in custody early Thursday.

What was racist? I don’t see anything hateful, just the truth. Please keep the racist card to yourself.

@ Tyreese – People like Rae Ann Smith cannot mentally deal with the facts that are presented to them. Instead, they opt to mentally hide behind the race card. Facts are facts. Black men kill black men, and in Chicago, that seems to be the norm. White/Asian/Arab/and most Hispanic neighborhoods do not have anywhere near the level of violence/killings that black neighborhoods on the south and west sides do. That is a fact. But until people like Rae Ann Smith accept this truth, and stop pulling the race card, things will not improve in the affected black communities.
