Area Near Morris Chemical Plant Temporarily Evacuated

MINOOKA, Ill. (CBS) — About 100 residents were returning to their homes in southwest suburban Minooka Sunday evening after a scare involving volatile material at a local industrial plant.

Emergency officials evacuated a neighborhood near Lyondell Bassell  at 8805 North Tabler Road Sunday afternoon. Earlier, a power interruption caused a tanker of flammable material to become overheated, Mayor Patrick Brennan said.

The temporarily displaced residents were taken to a local firehouse and out of potential danger.
