Woman Rescued From River In Channahon

CHANNAHON, Ill. (CBS) -- There were some scary moments Sunday night for a young woman in Channahon, after she had to be pulled from a river.

The 20-year-old woman's car somehow ended up completely submerged in the rain-swollen river Sunday evening.

Channahon is located at the juncture of the Des Plaines and Kankakee rivers, where they join to form the Illinois River.

The woman managed to get out of the car and float to the river bank, where neighbors across the street came to her aid.

She was taken to an area hospital by fire protection crews, and is expected to be fine.
