CHICAGO (CBS) – How often do we wake up to a story in the news that is so good our hearts thump and our eyes are smiling the whole rest of the day?

What a wonderful thing to happen to me today: the story in the Chicago Sun-Times, that COPS NAB 120 IN WAR ON GANG, after gangbangers on the Northwest Side fired bullets into two little children.

The police declared war on bangers of the Maniac Latin Disciples and in two weeks rounded up ten dozen of them -– two dozen locked up, the rest on bond.

So the story now is a question: Will the state’s attorney try to lock ‘em all up? Will the state’s attorney help the police, encourage the police to go after more gangbangers to get those bleeps off the streets?

That’s what we need: local and federal prosecutors to do what we pay them to do — make where we live safe to live.

How beautiful it would be to wake up to a story about 120 gangbangers banged into cells.

Hey Walter, I get the same feeling every time I hear of a drunk driver getting locked up . I know your feeling and it’s a great one for I feel the same. PUBLIC SAFETY FIRST. RIGHT ? Mr. Walter. Talk about a slap in the wrist ? Only for drunkies or what walter ?

So, who is locking up the GANGSTER DISCIPLES? Did they lock up any of the VICE LORDS? NOPE! Didn’t touch one single homey on the south side. Why, cause they are afraid, thats why. Some of the cops get their personal stash from the VL and the BGDN. Some of the cops are related to the BGDN. Some of the cops on the west side get their rocks off with VICE LORD WOMEN.

120 MANIAC L/D arrested. 100 are out on bond….SO WHAT? Nothing has changed. Did anyone arrest LATIN KINGS…NO. Did they arrest SATAN DISCIPLES…NO….DID THEY ARREST SPANISH COBRAS…NO…Nothing has changed on the streets. Just a headline…to give the sheep a false sense of security.

Centurion/Spartans – your names are not fitting. The police are “afraid”? Thats funny kid. I’m a south side cop in area two and I never did not do my job for “fear.” There is a thing called probable cause and reasonable suspicion, which you must follow to the t. You assertions of sleeping with VL trash may be true in some instances…is it a crime to have sex with a girl? How do they know they are VLs? Personal stash? You are full of it There are GD (killa ward/80s babies, GVille, etc.) that are locked up on the regular in my district. Get a clue before you open your mouth, go back to sucking your thumb. Walters was right in asking if the judicial system will honor the charges and uphold the law. We do our job, will they do theirs?

Walter, Thank you for your comments. We agree on this. The police are strating with the Maniac L/D first, and will go after the other gangs later in year, after the art fairs, weekend and late evening marathon run, charity runs on the lakefront, music festivals, book fairs, taste of Chicago and every other neighborhood, garden walks and all the other parties that the city details hundreds of police officers to on a daily basis. This does not inclued Cubs or Sox games, parades. Many of these event are privately run and getting free police protection from the city at the tax payers expense at the reduction of neighborhood police strength. Do not tell me that all these events pay the city for police, fire, street and sans. etc. Many of these events should hire off duty police and fire to patrol their parrties which most are nothing but drunk fest. The police department cannot handle and cover every neighborhood in the city and all these events. That’s why many major cities including NewYork have told promotors of these type of above events that they will not cover their events at the tax payer expense. It is a major economic drain. Many have been cancelled. With former Mayor Daley’s dismantaling of the police department, it is impossible to safley cover the city with the proper police protection. The areas being coverd will always be the lakefront and the numerous parties around the city at the expense of the neighborhoods. Enough is enough.
