Man Robbed, Shot In Northwest Section Of Evanston

EVANSTON, Ill. (CBS) -- Police are looking for the assailant who robbed and shot a man early Friday in the northwest part of Evanston.

Around 2 a.m., shots rang out in the 1800 block of Lyons Street, and police found a victim with a gunshot wound to his right thigh, according to police.

The victim told police he was talking with another person when they were approached by third man they did not know, who was wearing a mask and dark clothing.

The suspect said, "This is a robbery, give me your shoes." The suspect also ordered the victim to removed his hoodie, which contained his cell phone, according to police.

An argument ensued between the victim and suspect, who then shot the victim once in the right thigh. The offender then fled, taking the victim's hoodie and cell phone.

Evanston police are investigating, but no one was in custody Friday morning.
