Man Charged With Public Indecency At Fitness Club

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (STMW) -- A 47-year-old Rockford man was charged with exposing himself and touching other men inappropriately at a west suburban fitness club.

Lawrence E. Adamczyk of the 1600 block of Oregon St. in Rockford was arrested Monday and charged with three counts of battery and one count of public indecency, all Class A misdemeanors, according to a release from St. Charles police.

At about 3 p.m. Monday, police were called to the X-Sport fitness club at 238 N. Randall Rd. in St. Charles for a battery complaint and found that Adamczyk had been taken into custody by an off-duty police officer who was working out at the club.

Three men told police they were approached and inappropriately touched by Adamczyk inside of the facility while they were either working out or playing basketball, the release said. Witnesses also said he exposed himself while walking around the facility.

Adamczyk was taken into custody without incident and released on bond pending an initial court hearing July 21 in St. Charles.
