Updated 6/28/11 9:30 p.m.

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (STMW) — A motorcyclist was killed when the bike he was riding collided with a truck Tuesday evening in northwest suburban Schaumburg.

Emergency personnel responded at 4:21 p.m. to a crash between a 2002 Honda motorcycle and an International Transtar 18-whell semi truck at Irving Park Road (Illinois Route 19) and Mitchell Boulevard in Schaumburg, according to a release from Schaumburg police.

Paramedics initially took the 29-year-old man driving the motorcycle to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where he was pronounced dead 5 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

His name is not being released Tuesday night, pending family notification, the medical examiner’s office said.

Nobody else was on the motorcycle and nobody else was injured, police said.

The truck was traveling east on Irving Park Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Mitchell Boulevard when the westbound motorcycle struck it at the intersection, police said.

No citations have been issued to the 48-year-old Batavia man driving the truck as of Tuesday night, police said.

The Schaumburg police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating, and Irving Park Road was reopened at 8:50 p.m.

this same thing happened to me but in a suburban truck vs semi.
in elk grove I had a green light and the semi was turning left I was left with a broken hip socket and crushed knee. I still feel pain and my activites were slowed down.
went to court in crook county and lost the case due to not slowing down for an intersection. the trucking co. had a lawyer that was able to get jurys mind swayed from injury to not slowing down for a intersection.Of coarse this leaves a bitter taste and now won’t ever go through another jury case.
