Shooting Rocks Villa Park Apartment Complex

UPDATED 07/01/11 5:34 a.m.

VILLA PARK, Ill. (CBS) — A shooting rocked an apartment complex in west suburban Villa Park overnight, leaving one person injured.

As CBS 2’s Susanna Song reports, the shooting happened in the overnight hours in the apartment complex at 315 N. Ardmore Ave. in Villa Park.

Originally, there were reports of multiple deaths in the incident. But police later said no one died in the shooting, and only one person was injured with a gunshot wound to the arm.

But several shots were reported. Early Friday, evidence technicians and officers were on the scene, collecting shell casings outside the complex.

Police say the shooting was gang-related, and several people were arrested afterward.

I heard that Villa Park used to be a decent town until mexicans started moving in.

It’s not a bad town at all. I am not a resident, but drive through her and utilize many of her businesses.

Great town, but there are a small smattering of less-than-beautiful areas along the train tracks. The same tracks, by the way, that statistically are among the most-deadly in IL. The turds that perpetrated this violence were in one of those not-so nice apartments- no shock there- but they certainly do not represent even a significant percentage of VP’s peeps. Take a look around the town, it’s a quiet little town that has economically survived the death of Ovaltine.
