Buehrle Makes Pitch For Dogs Needing Adoption

CHICAGO (CBS) -- White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle and his wife, Jamie, spent Thursday morning shooting a public service announcement for adoptapet.com.

They are avid dog lovers who have taken in two rescue dogs to go along with the pair of pooches they already own.

While Buehrle is not a big fan of being in front of the camera, his bark is bigger than his bite when it comes to helping animals.

"There are tons of dogs (in) shelters that need to be adopted," Buehrle said. "It's so easy to find a dog and there are so many out there that need to be adopted."

"The more I learn about it, the more I want to help," Jamie Buehrle said. "There are just so many dogs out there that need homes and there's nothing wrong with them. There's no baggage with them."

If you're heading to Friday's Sox game, go to Gate 5 where you can see Jamie and others who are promoting "Sox for Strays" to find out more information about rescue animals.
