Man Tells Police His Marijuana Was Stolen, Arrested For Possession

UPDATED 07/14/11 1:23 p.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man who called police to report being robbed of two pounds of marijuana and a laptop was arrested himself early Thursday after police found narcotics in his Lincoln Park apartment.

Max Fleck, 20, of the 1500 block of West Fullerton Avenue, was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of cannabis, according to police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.

Fleck was scheduled to appear in bond court today.

Police were called to the Fullerton address at 12:40 a.m. because Fleck and a 19-year-old man had reported being robbed of their marijuana and a laptop, Baety said.

The 19-year-old said he'd been hit over the head with a bottle and suffered a cut to his back during the robbery, Baety said.

An earlier report indicated that a man was stabbed, and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.

Fleck, who reported being punched, refused medical attention and was arrested when they found him in possession of narcotics, Baety said.

The site of the incident is about half a mile west of the DePaul University campus.

A bustling business strip is located on the block where the incident happened, anchored by Facets Multimedia at 1517 W. Fullerton Ave. – which would have been closed at the time – and the bar McDunna's at 1505 W. Fullerton Ave. – which presumably would have been open.
