Club Security Guard Fights With Cops, Is Arrested

CHICAGO (STMW) — A scuffle at a South Loop rock club left a security guard arrested and charged with battery.

It happened about 2 a.m. at 2109 S. State St., Reggie’s Rock Club, according to Central District police Lt. Richard Guerrero.

Police initially responded to a person who had fallen and struck their head but when they got there, Alonzo Dilworth, who works security at the club, “became impatient and upset and slapped an officer’s hand,’’ said the lieutenant .

A 10-1 — an emergency call for police response — was called and Dilworth was placed into custody.

Twenty-five year-old Dilworth, of 85th and Halsted, was charged with three counts of battery and one count of obstructing the police, according to Guerrero. All charges are misdemeanors.

It should be a felony. A security guard does not have more authority than the police.

oh my he slapped an officers hand lol maybe he should get the death penalty or maybe the officer should slap him back and tell him he is 2 seconds away from being locked up. i think the officer is a wimp and should find better things to do than cry over getting slapped on the hand.

Scott I was thinking the same thing. A cop calls THAT in? people are getting murdered all over the city and you call in a hand slap? Turn in your badge.

So it’s ok to hit a police officer. This honor student security guard should not only be locked up for battery, but the liquor license for this establishment should also be suspended and pulled.Scott and Brian, you wish you were man enough do be a police officer!

You put your hands on a cop, you go to jail, period. No exceptions !

Im sorry people i was at the event, the security guard did not slap the cop as reported, the man was helping lift the man who was down and the police then dropped the man and went after the guard who was trying to help. the police officers as well used extreme force as well as drew a weapon wile the club was fully packed pointing it in the direction of many innocent bystanders faces . The whole thing could have been avoided he was trying to help them lift a rather large man…

  • excuse me but

no one should have been moving the guy! He was knocked out cold with a sucker punch he didnt slip and fall and could have had serious head/neck injuries!

he was helping the man up (with) the officers at the time, they were struggling at the time. he was simply assisting them and they already had checked him out. and it still does not excuse them pulling a loaded weapon in a crowded building when they could have used the tazer on the other hip. I’m just saying the whole thing was a total mess and the police are no better in this incident… As a business man i would have highly up set with the actions on the Chicago police in their handling of the matter. yes the guy was wrong for resisting at the time but they were in the wrong as well as him. the gun was less than 16 inches away from my head so im slightly upset with the whole thing…
