Tourists Taking Extreme Heat In Stride

CHICAGO (CBS) Tourists visiting Chicago have had to cope with the 100-plus heat indices, and most seemed OK about it.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's John Cody reports, Doug and Mary Beth, touring Chicago from 60-degree Seattle, reported no problems with 95 degrees-plus – even after a full afternoon at Wrigley Field.

"Fortunately, we were sitting in the shade," Doug said. "So I was just saying to my wife, I don't know how all those folks are able to do it out there in the bleachers for three hours, but I guess if you're local, it helps.

For David and his family from Spain, it was hot. The blazing sidewalks were hurting their feet, but David said he was "very happy in Chicago. Very happy."

And David said the heat was no problem, given that it's almost as hot back home in Spain.
