Naperville, Beecher Men Charged With Having Child Porn

CHICAGO (STMW) - Two Will County residents are facing child pornography charges.

One, 17-year-old Christopher D. Colon of Naperville, tried to smash a cell phone SIM card during police questioning and admitted he had text messages he didn't want them to see, a prosecutor said.

Colon and David J. Zalewski, 42, of Beecher face three counts each of aggravated child pornography for which they could serve as many as seven years in prison. Naperville police filed the charges against Colon, but Zalewski's arrest was part of the Illinois Attorney General's campaign against child porn, Operation Glass House.

A prosecutor told Will County Judge Marzell Richardson that Colon admitted he downloaded pornographic images of children as young as 10, but he claimed he'd delete pictures of children under 16. Police said they found hundreds of images of child pornography on his computer, though, some of which were in saved and shared folders.

Zalewski also admitted he downloaded child pornography, the prosecutor said. Police said Zalewski had hundreds of images and videos on his computer depicting children who range in age from infants to young teenagers.

Richardson set Colon's bail at $100,000 and Zalewski's at $250,000.
