2 Shot In Auburn-Gresham

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were shot and wounded late Tuesday afternoon in the South Side Auburn-Gresham neighborhood.

Details were still sketchy Tuesday evening, but Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daryl Baety said that gunfire erupted at 5:29 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of 79th Street and Hermitage Avenue.

A 34-year-old man was shot three times in the buttocks, while a 53-year-old woman was shot in the shoulder and hand.

The circumstances were not immediately clear.

Chicago Fire Department paramedics transported both victims to Christ Hospital, in Oak Lawn, in stable condition.

No one was in custody.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
