Bank Robbery Suspects Hit Truck During Getaway

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A pair of bank robbers got away with the cash, but not before a dye pack exploded in their loot and they crashed into a garbage truck while making their getaway.

The duo entered the First American bank at 118th Street and Western Avenue about 11 a.m., both carrying guns.

One jumped the counter to collect cash, but on the way from the bank the dye pack exploded.

Undeterred, the pair drove off--right into a Chicago garbage truck. The damage did not stop the car which continued east on 116th Street

The suspects were described as African-American, in their early 30s wearing dark clothing. One had a long black and grey beard; the other with a short black beard.

The FBI's Ross Rice says there were no injuries--the 50th Chicago area bank robbery this year.
