Fishers Claim They Snagged Human Foot In Antioch

ANTIOCH, Ill. (CBS) — Authorities are searching for a human foot in a lake in Antioch after a child told police he might have hooked a human foot while fishing Wednesday morning.

Lake County Sheriff’s police said they were called to Lake Marie in Antioch about 9 a.m. Wednesday, where two adults and a child told them that the child apparently hooked a human foot while fishing.

The child said the foot fell off his line after it was about three feet from their boat.

The Antioch Fire Department’s dive team, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and the Criminal Investigations division have been searching an area about 30 to 40 yards from shore on the southwest corner of Lake Marie.

Authorities were also using sonar equipment to assist in the search, police said.
