Man Accused Of Trying To Lure Kids Into Car On Southwest Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is in jail Wednesday morning, charged with trying to lure several young children into his car on the city's Southwest Side.

Regugio Rangel, 53, is accused of following a group of boys and girls 11 and 12-year-olds as they played in the 8100 block of South Kenneth Avenue, in the Scottsdale neighborhood. He allegedly watched them from his car, and followed them when they moved to another location.

Rangel then allegedly tried to talk to the children, and they demanded they get in his car.

The children instead ran away and gave a description to police. Officers saw the vehicle and detained Rangel, who was identified and charged.

Rangel is due for a bond hearing Wednesday, police said.
