HAZEL CREST, Ill. (CBS) — Crashes plagued Chicago area expressways during the morning rush Friday, including one that shut down the busy ramp between southbound I-294 and westbound I-80 in the southern suburbs.
As CBS 2’s Kris Habermehl reports, a Lincoln limousine and a Cadillac were involved in the crash on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) during the 6 a.m. hour.
The Cadillac was hit hard on its right rear side. The Lincoln limousine was demolished by the accident, with its front end bashed in and crumpled.
Debris also littered the roadway.
With the ramp shut down, many motorists waiting at the cash toll lanes were left stranded by the accident.
The female driver of the Cadillac appeared to be uninjured and was seen walking around nearby. It is not known if anyone was injured at all.
