West Side Church Gives Away Free Gas

CICERO, Ill. (WBBM) -- Some West Side ministers gave away $5,000 in free gas Saturday morning.

As WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports, at the Citgo station at 58th Avenue and Roosevelt Road in Cicero, the free gas started flowing at 10 a.m. and about 100 cars were already in line, stretching for blocks, by 9 a.m.

"To come out and get free gas, I think is a wonderful thing," one woman in line said.

"I really think it's a tremendous thing that the church is doing, helping the community, especially with the economical needs that we have … so it's a blessing man," one man said.

One woman came from as far away as South Holland for free gas.

"That's a long way, so that tells you how bad I need some gas," she said.

Each driver in line gets $25 worth of gas until it runs out.

Pastors Reggie and London Royal of Lifeline Church on the West Side were behind the giveaway to promote unity and love and to help out people in tough times.
