One Dead, Three Hurt In Dan Ryan Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man killed in a three-car crash on the outbound Dan Ryan Expressway that left three others seriously to critically hurt Sunday morning has been identified.

As of 2:15 p.m. traffic remains congested in the area of the wreck on the Far South Side, according to an Illinois State Police District Chicago trooper.

The three cars collided about 9:25 a.m. in the outbound lanes near 91st Street, according to ISP District Chicago Trooper Antony Burgos, who said one person was killed.

The victim was identified as Reginald Fox, 45, of 2600 E. 76th St. in Chicago, according to a spokeswoman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Fox was pronounced dead at Roseland Community Hospital at 10 a.m., according to the spokeswoman. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Four people were taken to hospitals following the wreck, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight.

One victim who was gravely injured was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to Knight. Two others who were in serious to critical condition were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn while a fourth also seriously to critically hurt was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, said Knight.

An EMS Plan I, who automatically sent at least five ambulances to the scene, was secured at 10 a.m., said Knight.
